Why isn't the software connecting to the machine even though USB is plugged in?
I don't know what programme you're using. Did you double-check your settings to ensure you're using the correct com port? Because software is so important in laser operation, double-check all of your settings.
Is there anything to place under the cutting area? Will it sever the floor?
The answer is that it will cut through your floor. You can protect the wood beneath your laser by placing a piece of sheet metal beneath it. To avoid it from hurting anything, I have a piece of 3/4 plywood and some sheet metal. I hope this was helpful.

Only black acrylic can be cut.
